Where’s My Shoggoth? is an enchanting and creepy storybook coming soon to stores, featuring playful rhymes and strangely charming art. Plus, it’s got a glow-in-the-dark cover! If you’re a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, Edward Gorey, or R.L. Stine, you’ll enjoy Where’s My Shoggoth? The DangerWrites blog recently spoke to writer Ian Thomas and artist Adam Bolton about the making of the book.
Was the book planned to be a children’s book all along?
(Ian) It was supposed to be a parody of a kids’ book all along, yes – it’s sort of a follow up to another kids’ parody I did with my other half a couple of years ago (My Worst Words). Immediately after finishing that, the title “Where’s My Shoggoth?” was in my head. Lots of friends of ours were starting to have children, and we really wanted to be able to give them something sort-of-child-appropriate but which would still reassure our mates that they weren’t just parents, that they hadn’t changed that much.
