Phil Hester

Phil Hester has been writing and drawing comics professionally for over two decades. His work has been featured in over 300 comic books from nearly every major American publisher. Career highlights include writing The Darkness for Top Cow; Firebreather (in production at Cartoon Network), Deep Sleeper and Golly for Image; and The Coffin for Oni.

He’s pencilled lots and lots of comics. Highlights include a long run on DC’s Green Arrow with writers Kevin Smith, Brad Meltzer and Judd Winick. He’s also drawn Swamp Thing, Nightwing, Superman Confidential, The Flash, Argus, The Spirit and El Diablo for DC. Phil’s Marvel work includes two issues of Brian Bendis’ Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, and a long run on The Irredeemable Ant-Man with Robert Kirkman. Nearly all of this work was inked by his longtime collaborator and friend, Ande Parks.

Phil has also written and drawn many short stories for prestigious anthologies like Postcards, Taboo, Deadline USA, Flinch and Negative Burn. His creation The Wretch was nominated for an Eisner in 1997 as best new series.

Phil lives in small town Iowa with his wife and two children.
