Michael McMillian has been working steadily in television and film since graduating from the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. Currently co-starring in HBO’s hit show TRUE BLOOD as the eccentric Reverend Steve Newlin, McMillian was also a series regular on TNT’s SAVED and WB’s WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU in which he played Amanda Bynes’ love interest and wrote the Season 3 episode, “Girls Gone Wild.”
He has guest-starred on such shows as BIG LOVE, SCRUBS, VERONICA MARS and WITHOUT A TRACE. On the feature side, McMillian played the lead in the Wes Craven-produced THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 and the title role in the coming-of-age dramedy DORIAN BLUES, which won the Audience Awards at L.A.’s Outfest and Cinequest in San Jose. McMillian’s portrayal of a young man coming to terms with his homosexuality earned him rave reviews from Variety, E!, The New York Post and New York Daily News. He also appears this summer in IMAGINE THAT, starring Eddie Murphy.
Most recently, McMillian co-wrote and produced the dark comedy short, GLOCK, with Tom Everett-Scott, appearing in numerous 2009 film festivals, including the Tribeca Film Festival and GenArt in Chicago, where it received the 2009 Jury Prize.
